PRACTICE EXPERIENCE:
Marie Tanya Enriquez-Llamas has extensive experience in handling a broad spectrum of diverse and complicated issues relating to a major water concession in the Philippines, ranging from disputes on water utilization as well as employment and tax issues, to matters concerning extraordinary price adjustment, currency exchange rate adjustment and rate rebasing. She has also participated in the drafting and review of agreements relating to the construction and installation of major water facilities, interconnection and turn-over of water systems, and water delivery. She has also assisted in the UNCITRAL arbitration involving the water concessionaire and a government agency on disputes relating to the termination of the concession. In the field of property development, Ms. Llamas has competently and successfully handled major projects both within

and outside Metro Manila. A major component of Ms. Llamas' practice in this area involves negotiating with potential landowners on the acquisition of the relevant property, handling of land registration cases and advising clients on the best schemes within legal limits to implement the project. Ms. Llamas has further counselled clients on bidding procedures for the qualification and selection of property developers in connection with the asset disposition of a primary government entity in Taguig. She has also assisted and counseled a major gas pipeline company on the bidding procedures for its consultancy and construction work projects.
Ms. Llamas has also been significantly involved in litigation work and has successfully handled several cases on annulment and declaration of nullity of marriages, civil and criminal cases before the regular courts, approval of summer and winter schedules before the Civil Aeronautics Board as well as applications for registrations with the Intellectual Property Office. She has also handled environmental disputes before the Laguna Lake Development Authority.
Ms. Llamas is leading the firm's representations with the BOI on the compliance by clients with various BOI requirements for the availment of incentives, and advising clients on general corporate matters. She is also currently advising a major water concessionaire in the implementation of its debt and capital restructuring and in various matters relating to the operation of such concessionaire, including applications for water rate adjustments. |
